We combine these data with existing spectroscopic data from 814 confirmed supercluster members to produce the first study of a local rich cluster including both ultraviolet and infrared luminosity functions (LFs). Description: The ultraviolet and mid-infrared data analysed in this paper are complemented by existing panoramic optical B- and R-band imaging from the Shapley Optical Survey (SOS: Haines et al. 2006MNRAS.371...55H 2006MNRAS.371...55H; Mercurio et al. 2006MNRAS.368..109M 2006MNRAS.368..109M) and near-infrared K-band imaging (Merluzzi et al. 2010MNRAS.402..753M 2010MNRAS.402..753M, Paper I) The UV data analysed in this paper consist of four contiguous GALEX pointings making up the Cycle 4 Guest Investigation proposal GI4-098 (P.I. R.J. Smith), and which were observed in 2008 May. The panoramic Spitzer mid-infrared observations of the Shapley supercluster core were carried out over 2008 August 27-30 within the Cycle 5 GO programme 50510 (PI: C.P. Haines).
