Remarks about some LTT entries of Kuiper's spectral classificaition of proper motion stars (III/119)

The stars classified here are almost all included in B. Skiff's compiilation of MK spectral classifications (B/mk). Additional notes about a few entries are added here.

LTT 3537   [Simbad]    [3537/8]
is a pair of white dwarfs LDS 275AB:
A (2MASS J09365978-3721306) is DC;
B (2MASS J09365994-3721269) is DA, at ρ=4'', θ=30°.

LTT 7512   [Simbad]    [HD 175617(B)]
There are 2 stars at 20'': one North (UCAC2 30413494) and South (LDS 659B, northest of a  10''-trio).

The southern star (2MASS J18562037-0425085) has a significant proper motion, but cannot be physically related, even though the proper motions have the same direction. Measurements from the WDS database give:

Epoch θ(°) ρ('') source
1920. 225. 31. Luyten (θ approximate only)
1954.416 196.3 27.05 USNO-A2.0
1986.651 195.8 22.46 GSC-ACT
1999.301 196.6 21.07 2MASS
1999.608 196.4 21.13 DENIS,n=2
2000.57 196.5 20.98 UCAC3
2003.230 196.3 20.79 CMC14
2005.672 196.9 20.40 UKIDSS DR6
2013.927 197.1 19.40 URAT1 (new addition)

Moreover, the radial velocities differ by 160 km/s according to Fouts (VizieR III/144), so the 2 stars simply cannot be related.

LTT 11334   [Simbad]    [Ross 22]
There is a 20min RA offset in LTT compared to the Ross 22 position: Ross indicates a 1875 position 03 36 04 +48 50.9, but in his paper ``New White Dwarfs, Subdwarfs, and Binary Stars'', Kuiper (1940ApJ....91..269K) gives a position which corresponds to a 1875 position of 03 56 04 +48 50.9, re-used by Luyten in the LTT. A further note by Kuiper mentions that van Maanen could not recover Ross 22 (1940ApJ....91..366K)

LTT 12574   [Simbad]    [type=F8f]
This entry seems to be simply a Luyten goof. It is given in the early "half-second" catalogue as LFT 673 = L 1542-26, but disappears in later Luyten catalogues with no note about the omission.

LTT 15085   [Simbad]    [Ross 1059]
Ross position coincides with SDSS J170852.33+603736.3, a blue/red double which may have generated a fiducial proper motion; but the star is not a high proper motion star.

LTT 15089   [Simbad]    [Ross 1060]
Ross position coincides with GSC 4198-123 = 2MASS J17102385+6031178, but has a small proper motion.

LTT 15091   [Simbad]    [Ross 1061]
Not a large proper motion star.

LTT 18520   [Simbad]    [Grw+83 3163]
This is not a large proper motion star. Its position corresponds to UCAC4 870-008656 (GSC 04649-1008, µ=1mas/yr). There is however a star with >0.1arcsec/yr proper motion close to this position, but not in the Astrographic Catalog: UCAC4 870-008648 (GSC 04649-2329, µ=0.118arcsec/yr, θ=123°)
